Software
Twitter is great. It’s an open API, which means it can be fed into any application. In response to that, people have built applications which help you use Twitter’s functionalities better than just by using the Twitter website.
One favourite is Tweetdeck. It’s showing 4 columns on your screen which can be customised, the default setting is 1. friend feed (all updates from people you follow), 2. replies, and 3. direct messages. The other columns can be Search functions so you can see when anyone mentions a certain search term.
